Social dance classes

It is usually couples that enrol in Social Dance Classes, but there are also individuals who join without a partner and later find one on our website. Welcome to join are total beginners, who want to learn a few basic steps, as well as those who had already danced in the past and wish to renew or even perfect their proficiency in various dances. Social Dance Classes are intended for adults aged around 20 and over.

A social dance course lasts two months, the class is held once a week for two school periods – 90 minutes, usually in the evening, from 7 p.m. onwards. Social Dance Classes are divided into: Beginner (Level 1), Intermediate (Level 2), Pre-advanced (Level 3) and Advanced (Level 4). After completing all four levels we hold a closing ceremony, where students are presented with the EVROTEST certificate, which confirms their knowledge of the world dance programme. The certificate also opens the door to the more demanding club level classes in the following dance seasons.

At the above-mentioned courses, students learn the basics of some 15 social dances, such as: English waltz, Viennese waltz, foxtrot, polka, tango, cha cha cha, rumba, samba, jive, techno swing, disco fox, mambo, salsa, bachata, paso doble… To begin with, we learn only a few of the basic figures of each dance. During the classes, which are always divided into two periods, as we take a break after 45 to 50 minutes of dancing, so that students can have a short rest, a drink, etc., we do not yet dance along line of dance (in a counterclockwise direction around the room).

Club levels

Club level classes are divided into classes of varying difficulty levels: Elementary Club Levels (K1–K5), Pre-intermediate Club Levels (K6–K10), Low Intermediate Club Levels (K11–K15), Upper Intermediate Club Levels (K16–K20), Pre-advanced Club Levels (K21–K25), Advanced Club Levels (K26–K30) and Very Advanced Club Levels (K31 and above).

In club level classes we learn the more complex figures of standard dances (English waltz, Viennese waltz, American waltz, Mexican waltz, foxtrot, quickstep, slowfox, tango, blues), latin dances (rhumba, samba, cha cha cha, jive, paso doble) and modern and fashionable dances (disco fox, techno swing, disco hustle, salsa, bachata, bachatango, bossa nova, merengue, twist, mambo, boogie woogie, rock'n'roll…). Besides all this, we also learn the correct standard and/or latin posture, the correct way of moving through the space, dancing along the line of dance and the correct orientation in space, all the while emphasising technique and the correct execution of figures. At this level, figures are taught systematically and according to a precisely defined and tested dance programme. You will therefore certainly not be bored at club level. Quite the opposite – you'll be eagerly awaiting the next practice session!
